Instructor is the second PADI professional level, the next level up from Divemaster. Instructors focus on teaching dive skills and are needed to conduct a broad range of programmes for both new and experienced divers.
Instructor courses are run every month and take 2 weeks.
If you are not yet a Divemaster, please see our Divemaster page as you will need to reach this level first before moving on to Instructor. For information about the PADI system and what the Instructor course involves please click here.
You will be based in the fun city of Cairns, the doorway to the Great Barrier Reef. For more details about the location, lifestyle and dive school click here.
Pricing and what's includedIf you are combining this with our Divemaster programme, the price is an additional £1815. This includes: - PADI Instructor Development Course and preparation
- PADI Instructor application and exam fees
- PADI Instructor Crew Pack - all manuals and materials required by PADI (retails at over £300)
If you are already a Divemaster, the price for the Instructor course only is £2195. This includes 12 month's diving insurance.
NB It is a PADI requirement to have a full set of your own dive equipment to become an Instructor. Packages are available in retail dive shops locally.
Master Scuba Diver TrainerIf you are serious about a career as an Instructor, you will probably also want to consider the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) prep course.
An MSDT is an Instructor with 5 specialties and at least 25 certifications (students you have taught and certified).
The MSDT 'prep' course is an additional £900 and includes 5 Instructor Specialties. The most common choices are: Nitrox, UW Photo, Deep, Navigation, Night, Search & Recovery.
After you have completed the course, found a job and certified 25 students you can then apply for the MSDT certification.
